The 1st Amendment

The Founding Fathers rightly sought to avoid the European practice of establishing an official, State religion, thus we have the 1st Amendment. The second part of the 1st Amendment is often (intentionally?) omitted by liberals and other secularists and states, "...or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
It is the second phrase of the 1st Amendment that is key to the objections of conservatives and all persons of faith to the increasingly common practice of removing all reference, symbols, and discourse relating to religion from the public square. The Founding Fathers never intended that. This is a rather recent phenomenon and is gaining momentum. Thus we have "Winter Holiday" instead of Christmas, "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas, "Spring Break" instead of Easter Vacation, the prohibition of the displays of Christmas trees and Christmas pageants in schools, attempts to remove "In God We Trust" from our coins, the Gideon's can no longer distribute Bibles in schools, efforts to delete "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance, etc., etc. The United States survived and prospered long before the ACLU and other liberals 'discovered' the illegality of such public displays of faith. Yet, while it is forbidden to pray in the public schools, it is OK to murder unborn human beings. It's all part of the larger culture war... and we are slowly losing. Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and values and we are all (secularists included) the better for it.
Georgetown University should be ashamed for caving into the request to cover the religious symbols. Georgetown is a private, Catholic university and the government has no right to request that they deny who they are. Obama is coming to Notre Dame in a few weeks and already there is a huge debate over the appropriateness of that. What would Notre Dame do if Obama ask that a large drape cover "Touchdown Jesus"?

Hillary Clinton, the person who easily might have been our Commander-in-Chief, said recently that the piracy problem requires 21th Century solutions. WRONG!

The piracy problem requires 18th century solutions. Thomas Jefferson, who hated war and preferred diplomacy had the right idea. Jefferson sent his navy and destroyed them.

Liberals like to say that piracy is a criminal offence and is more a law enforcement issue than a terrorist matter. This is the sort of fuzzy logic that always results in a bad outcome.

Here is my simple and cheap solution to 21th Century piracy:
1. Equip all merchant ships who travel in dangerous waters with 4 to 6 heavy machine guns. Train the crew on their use.
2. Issue a world-wide edict that henceforth, any unidentified watercraft that comes with 200 yards of a merchant ship will receive warning shots and if they don’t turn around immediately, they will be blasted out of the water. No apology, no negotiations, no seeking approval from the United Nations. Those who engage in piracy on the high seas have forfeited any "rights" and are to be considered rogue humanoids and enemies of humanity.
3. Identify and destroy all bases giving safe harbor to pirates. We pretty much know where they are.
The "piracy problem" will end in short order.

All the talk about maritime treaties or laws forbidding the use of weapons on merchant ships for self-defense is hogwash. Any civilian casualties will be considered unfortunate victims of terrorism. We cannot negotiate with terrorists. If the suggested measures are taken, there will be very few, if any, further civilian casualties to worry about.

Just 53% Say Capitalism Better Than Socialism

According to the latest Rasmussen poll, only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism. Adults over 40 strongly favor capitalism, and just 13% of those older Americans believe socialism is better.

This is what we may expect when our nation's youth are not instructed in basic US history, civics, and economics. But perhaps it doesn't make any difference considering the liberal worldview of the teachers. If you want your kids to learn anything, better home school, enroll them in private schools, or at least fill in the gaps in their education at home. Don't expect them to learn the basics in public schools or in most colleges. When the older citizens are gone, we will be another France. Oh my!

WASHINGTON —A Senate chairman on Tuesday urged Attorney General Eric Holder to sue any states that aren't helping needy citizens to register to vote.Federal laws call for state agencies to try to register people to vote when they are distributing aid, such as food stamps and unemployment benefits.Senator Schumer stated that it was his party's goal to register as many government-dependent voters as possible in an ongoing effort to expand and maintain a permanent majority in Congress.
Furthermore, Schumer said he was prepared to introduce new legislation that would require these new eligible voters to actually vote in addition to registering. "We are prepared to reduce government benefits to those on welfare who do not show up at the polls. We are serious about bringing everyone into the electorial process. We are in the process of cross-matching all welfare recipients with voter sign-in records. Those on welfare who don't bother to vote will see their benefits reduced along with those who dare register as Republicans."

Officials at Goshen College have confirmed reports today that President Barack Obama will travel to this economically-stressed community in northern Indiana immediately after his address at the University of Notre Dame next month. He will receive an honorary Doctor of Pacifism degree in appreciation of his recent speech where he promised to "rid the world of all nuclear weapons" by the end of his first term. When asked by reporters if he was concerned that the United States would be vulnerable to attack or blackmail by other nuclear-powered nations should the US have no nuclear deterrent, he said he would be happy to answer that question next week when his teleprompter would be updated with appropriate answers.

President Obama did mention that due to the growing criticism of his appearance at Notre Dame because of the Catholic Church's opposition to abortion, he was looking forward to traveling down the road to Goshen for another degree that would be in a more accepting environment. Unilateral disarmament is universally approved at Goshen College.

In addition, his combining trips would make the environmentalists happy as this would reduce his carbon footprint. Negotiations are underway between Goshen College and the Secret Service regarding the prohibition of guns on the pacifist campus. A compromise is likely where the President's personal bodyguard will be allowed to carry starter pistols that can only fire blanks while on campus. But they will not be allowed to point them at anyone least they become frightened but will be allowed to shoot the blanks into the air in hopes the noise would frighten off any potential threat.

What a Deal

The auto manufacturer is broke. The auto manufacturer has no money to pay for anything. The auto manufacturer gets the money to make this guy's car payments from a government bail-out (from the tax payer - that is me). The government guarantees the warranty so is paying to fix this guy's car with tax payer money - that is me. I am buying this guy's car and keeping it running for him.

Why not. I owe him a home, why not a car?

Econ 101

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism.
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little.. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that....

New Color Codes

Recently, our new US Homeland Security Chief, Janet Napolitano, issued her intentions to alter or even eliminate the color-coded threat alert system put in place after the terror (whoops, man-made destruction) attacks of 9/11, according to the New York Daily News.
According to our sources, the new colors being considered are as follows:
Peach - everything is peachy keen meaning all plans to attack are still in the planning stage.... nothing to worry about.
Mauve - All plans for new man-made disasters are about to take place probably within days or weeks at the most. All US citizens should prepare for attacks by wearing traditional Muslin garb and flying flags of any Muslin nation in front of their homes. And then hope makers of man-made disasters might shoot you in the head rather than slowly cut off your head with a dull knife.
Pink - Man-made disasters are within hours. Follow the example of our Armed Forces and surrender immediately. And be relieved that our President has that middle name. He just might survive to be our Messiah.

Hofstra University Students Arrested on Drugs, Weapons Charges After Dramatic Dorm Heist

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Hofstra University is reeling over the arrests of several students on drug and weapons charges after a showdown over cocaine in a school dorm room.
Police say the episode unfolded Thursday night when two 19-year-old students at the Long Island school burst into a fellow student's room carrying realistic looking pellet guns and grabbed drugs, jewelry and cash before escaping in a getaway car.
The robbery victim went to campus security, and wound up being charged himself with illegal drug sales. Police said he had been dealing pills, marijuana and cocaine out of his dorm.
An investigation led to the arrest of the students who wielded the pellet guns as well, along with a pair of alleged accomplices.

Are these intelligent college students? If so, our nation is in trouble. Perhapse they were attempting to be listed in the "World's Dumbest Crooks" competition. I can just imagine the desparate phone call to the police: "Hello... this is Harvy Kleck. I'm a student at Hofstra and live in the men's dorm. Some guys just broke into my room and stole my stash of illegal drugs and stolen jewery and all my cash from selling dope.
Please send help immediately!"

Are you getting tired of our new "President" yet? (rhetorical question)
Since it grates on my nerves to refer to him as our "President" , from here on I will be calling him our "Former President-Elect." Remember when he was so proud of that title that he even had a special podium made inscribed with "Office of the President Elect" for his speeches prior to his taking office. So, Obama can continue with that title.
Also, since his birth certificate has still not been verified and since there is no good reason why - if he has nothing to hide- he doesn't deserve the title of President in my opinion. Well, I can dream, can't I?

Homeless and clueless

Houston taxpayers could start footing the bill to help first-time homebuyers pay off debts and improve their credit scores, under a proposal before City Council this week.
The “Credit Score Enhancement Program” will give up to $3,000 in grants to individuals who are trying to qualify for mortgages through the city’s homebuyers assistance program. City officials say some applicants fall short of eligibility by only 10 or 20 points on their credit scores, and paying off some debt balances can quickly improve their numbers.


Let's see if I understand this correctly:
The "Credit Score Enhancement Program" will help people who can't afford to own a home by taking money from other taxpayers and give the homeless government grants (gifts from the taxpayers) so that the homeless can qualify to buy a home that they can't afford. So instead of having homeless people who can't afford a home, we will have ticked off taxpayers in addition to homeless people who got to live in a home they could not afford for a few months before the banks who made them loans they could not afford had to foreclose and repossess the homes from the now homeless who could not afford to own a home. This is liberal logic at its best!
Tell me, how is this any different than the subprime mortgages that got us into the mess in the first place??

Least I be accused of racism, I want this policy to be nation-wide for all races, in all states. Fair is fair.

Our Messiah in the White House has suffered a decline in popularity in just the past 3 weeks.
The former President Elect has seen his job approval go down from 65% to 60% but his disapproval has increased from 16% to 26%.
At this rate, he will be as popular as the former Governor of Illinois, (whose name I never bothered to learn how to spell) in about 6 months.
But it must be acknowledged that among the Democrat Party faithful, his approval rate actually went UP from 85% to 90%.
I wonder who are the 10% who don't like him? Probably those who think he is not liberal enough.
They include the supporters of Dennis Kucinich and the San Francisco pot lobby.
Also possibly included are the Greens who are upset with the Big O for flying out to Denver in Air Force 1 just for a 20 minute photo op when he signed the "Democratic Party Monopoly Power Stimulus Bill." That one trip put more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than Al Gore's Tennesee mansion did for the entire month of January. Shame on you, Barry!
Don't worry about your great-grandchildren paying for this new debt. After all, you will probaly be dead then anyway.
